would you like to live your future self or relive your past self
Welcome, Future Readers
The Apartment of My Mind
I’ve always imagined my mind as an apartment with different rooms for everything. There’s a room for good memories, another for bad ones, and a special room for my deepest thoughts. One day, I found myself sitting in my room of deep thoughts, pondering hypothetical situations. I asked myself, “Would you rather live and see your future self in, say, 10 or 20 years, or would you prefer to relive your past from any moment you choose?”
Without hesitation, I answered, “Of course, I’d want to live in the future.”
Why the Future?
This response sparked another thought: “But why? Was my past really that bad?” The answer came easily: “No, my past was actually great. I see it as well above average. I may not be the richest person in the world, but I have a loving family and a nice environment. I value these things far more than money. Growing up with a loving family is incredibly important, and I’ve always tried to focus on the positive side of things.”
So, why don’t I want to relive any part of my childhood or teenage years? It’s because I crave new experiences. I want the excitement and mystery of the unknown that the future holds. The thought of this fills me with energy every time I think about it.
The Debate: Future or Past?
So, what’s better: the future or the past? This isn’t a question of right or wrong. It depends on what you seek in life. Some might choose to relive their good memories, finding comfort in a life they already know is good and familiar. Others, like me, might be more inclined to seek out the unknown, yearning for the excitement of what’s to come.
In reality, whether you want to go back in time or leap forward into the future, it won’t happen. Sorry to burst your bubble, but that’s the hard truth. However, what you gain from pondering these thoughts is a deeper understanding of what you seek and value in life. There’s no such thing as a deep thought without benefits; if you focus, you’ll always find something valuable to take away.
Knowing Yourself
At the end of this journey, I want to emphasize the importance of self-reflection. The better you know yourself, the clearer your motives, ideas, and goals will become. So, take time to think and get to know who you are.
I welcome any feedback or discussions in the comments.
